Welcome To My Lair.....

Welcome all to the all new and wonderful world of Mikey The Black's Mandolin...... and other tales of musical woe.

The purpose of this blog is for me to share with you tips, tricks and other goodies on the mandolin. I say "other tales of musical woe as I will pop guitar things on too as I see fit or any other instruments from time to time.

There won't be any real order to it for now, just things as I think of them to share with the world. The difficulty will range from "What's a mandolin?" to "C'mon dude, blow my mind.".... Well, that's what I'm hoping. I plan to try and tab songs and lyrics as I learn them, so you yourselves, can learn them and pass on the knowledge.

I have played guitar on and off for around 20 years, and have dabbled with other instruments as I can get my hands on them. Nothing too spectacular but I enjoy doing what I can. My recent purchase of a Crafter mandolin has renewed my musical interests and as I pick things up I aim to share them with you. My approach to it has not been very traditional, I don't play the usual things on the mandolin that you would normally hear. Not for lack of interest.. just that I'm a bit odd at times. So I've been teaching myself songs by Judas Priest, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin etc. As I said, I'll share these things on as I refine them over time.

I currently don't have any means of recording video or decent audio, but I hope to provide clips later on down the track.

Please feel free to comment on my posts and tell me what you like, don't like etc. Also feel free to message me with anything you'd like to learn and I'll see if I can get it sorted for you.

Thanks for reading and hopefully learning.

Mikey.

  3. Girard, if I ever am absent for your and your again, you have my permission to hunt me down and smash me over the head with a mandolin.. Preferably one of the cheap and shoddy Valencia brand like I used to have and not my good Crafter one. :P
